Part III — How God Is Moving Today

Personal Application
This supplement is a heart-to-heart companion to the preceding two lessons — addressing your immediate personal needs and practical application of the truths studied.
The Holy Spirit is a Person — not a feeling, not an atmosphere, not a force. And He produces both gifts and fruit in the lives of believers who are genuinely yielded to Him. This supplement takes the doctrinal truth of Lessons Twenty-Five and Twenty-Six and presses it into the practical question: What does it actually look like to live in the fullness of the Holy Spirit day to day?
Years ago, when I was just a boy, I made a commitment to God. I consecrated my life to studying and teaching everything in the Bible — whether or not it lined up with my church or any other church. To me, this is the only honest and intelligent path to take.
If others choose differently, that's on them. They'll answer to God for it in the end.
My hope is that you'll continue approaching Scripture with a clear, rational mind. After all, isn't truth what you're really after? Don't you want to know what God Himself teaches?
If that's your heart, then studying these lessons and reading the Scriptures we provide can't possibly lead you astray. Every doctrine we cover is backed up by God's own Word.
Let's acknowledge a few things together. The Bible is written in human language. There must be a basis of truth we can all agree on if we're willing.
God is certainly intelligent enough to make Himself clear on every doctrine He teaches. And it's simply impossible that there are dozens of "correct" interpretations of the same plain statements in Scripture.
Here's what's really happening: there's a supernatural power at work, trying to confuse people and make them think the Bible can mean whatever anyone wants it to mean. This is too obvious to ignore!
So let's take a logical approach and ask ourselves some honest questions.
Isn't the Bible God's inspired revelation? Isn't it written in plain human language so we can all understand it the same way — or is it really so complicated that we have to argue endlessly about what it means?
Why do preachers disagree about what the Bible teaches if it's simple enough for everyone to understand? What good does that division accomplish?
Wouldn't it be better to simply believe together what's plainly written? Why let the devil divide God's people?
We've already addressed these questions thoroughly in Lessons One through Three. We've shown how demon powers work to confuse people's understanding of Scripture. We've proven that the Bible is God's Word, that it's actually the simplest book to understand, and that there's no excuse for misunderstanding it — if we just take it literally, the same way we read any other book.
Once you grasp this foundation, everything else falls into place naturally.
Throughout these lessons, we've demonstrated something remarkable: there is no known need or want in the human experience that the Bible doesn't promise to supply — when we meet certain conditions.
Think of it like an enormous warehouse stocked with everything you could ever need, and God has given you the key. The supplies are there. The access is available. You just need to follow the instructions.
If you ever find yourself wavering on this point or questioning any detail, go back and review Lessons One through Three, Ten, Twelve, Fourteen, Sixteen, Twenty, and Twenty-two. Refresh your memory with God's abundant promises and His plan for getting these benefits into your life.
Here's a truth that should transform how you approach God: no failure is possible when you want to receive from Him — if you simply follow the instructions laid out in His Word.
It would be easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for even one of God's promises to fail, as long as we faithfully and literally obey the conditions He's made clear.
Jesus Himself said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away" Luke 21:33. And the psalmist declared, "For ever O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven" Psalms 119:89.
It is literally impossible for God to fail anyone. No one has ever experienced that, and no one ever will. On the other hand, everyone who knows God — or who has heard about others who know God — will testify that He has never failed in a single thing He promised.
