Part III — How God Is Moving Today

Personal Application
This supplement is a heart-to-heart companion to the preceding two lessons — addressing your immediate personal needs and practical application of the truths studied.
Eternal security rests on God's faithfulness, not yours. And God's fifteen great covenants show that He keeps every promise He makes — across centuries, across generations, regardless of the failures of the people involved. This supplement is where those two truths produce something practical: confidence that doesn't depend on your performance.
Now, some people object to what we're teaching about these blessings. They wonder why God would want to give us these blessings today more than He has in the past. Others argue that since God knows what we need, if it's His will to bless us, He'll do so without us putting forth any effort. Still others reason that if God wanted to give them these blessings, He would have already—so since He hasn't, it must not be His will.
These arguments are really just excuses rooted in unbelief. They prove nothing about what God actually wants for us.
God always keeps His Word, and this is one of the greatest reasons for the present revival of faith and power among Christians. On the day of Pentecost, Peter declared:
"But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: and on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" Acts 2:14-21.
God didn't just inspire Peter to predict revival in the last days. He also inspired others to warn that satanic powers would become increasingly active in this time Matthew 24:242 Thessalonians 2:1-12Revelation 13:1-18Revelation 16:13-16.
But here's the encouraging news: as these dark powers increase, God's power will also increase to counteract them and prove to humanity that He is the true God Daniel 12:3James 5:7Revelation 11:3-7Revelation 12:11Acts 2:14-21. The gifts of the Holy Spirit will be exercised in all their fullness, and God will once again demonstrate He is more powerful than Satan 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.
Nobody's arguing this point—but using this fact as an excuse for unbelief is inexcusable. Just because God knows what you need doesn't mean He'll automatically meet those needs without your participation.
Think of it like a scholarship fund. The money might be there, set aside for students, but you still have to apply for it. There must be faith and conformity to God's conditions before you can receive these benefits.
The requirement is clear: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" Matthew 6:33.
If you want something badly enough, you'll put forth the necessary effort to get it. And honestly, the person who refuses to obey God and do what He requires isn't worthy of answered prayer.
If you want salvation from sin and bad habits, you'll repent and refuse to live in sin. You'll turn to God and serve Him with your whole heart. Then—and only then—will God deliver you.
If you want healing, you'll believe that healing is in the atonement, accept Christ as your healer, and have faith that you are healed when you pray.
If you need prosperity or help with material concerns or business problems, you'll take your need to God in prayer, commit it all to Him, and believe He will bring you through.
Whatever you want from God that's promised in the Bible—if you want it badly enough—you'll get down to business and conform to God's laws that enable you to receive it.
