Ignatius Bible — RSV Second Catholic Edition

The Ignatius Bible (RSV-2CE) is the Second Catholic Edition of the Revised Standard Version, published by Ignatius Press in 2006. It reverses several of the original 1966 Catholic Edition's updates to bring the text closer to the RSV original, while retaining the full Catholic deuterocanon.

History & Background

Ignatius Press commissioned the revision as a more conservative Catholic edition, restoring traditional renderings such as 'virgin' in Isaiah 7:14 and 'full of grace' in Luke 1:28. The RSV-2CE is the text used in the Ignatius Study Bible and is preferred by many conservative and traditional Catholics worldwide.
