NRSV, The C.S. Lewis Bible

An edition of the New Revised Standard Version offering the complete biblical text in a carefully formatted and accessible presentation for personal reading, study, and devotion.

History & Background

The New Revised Standard Version was published in 1989 by the National Council of Churches as an update to the RSV of 1952. A 30-member scholarly committee introduced gender-inclusive language and applied current textual criticism. Many NRSV editions include the Apocrypha, making it the preferred academic and ecumenical translation.
