History & Background
The New Living Translation was first published in 1996 by Tyndale House, growing out of a revision of Ken Taylor's Living Bible paraphrase. Over 90 scholars used a 'thought-for-thought' philosophy to create clear, natural English that captures the meaning of the original. Updated in 2004 and 2007, the NLT is particularly popular for devotional reading, children's ministry, and new believers.
