NLT The Life Recovery Bible
Designed for those in recovery, this NLT Bible integrates the 12 Steps and recovery principles throughout Scripture, offering hope for freedom from addiction and brokenness.
History & Background
The New Living Translation was first published in 1996 by Tyndale House, growing out of a revision of Ken Taylor's Living Bible paraphrase. Over 90 scholars used a 'thought-for-thought' philosophy to create clear, natural English that captures the meaning of the original. Updated in 2004 and 2007, the NLT is particularly popular for devotional reading, children's ministry, and new believers.
Canon Proximity Rating
Contains the standard 66-book Protestant canon. The thought-for-thought philosophy introduces interpretive choices, slightly reducing word-level precision.
