History & Background

Edgar J. Goodspeed (1871–1962) was a pioneering NT scholar at the University of Chicago who produced the first major American colloquial translation of the NT (1923) and later the complete Bible with J.M.P. Smith (1931). The Junior Bible adapted this translation for younger audiences.
